Schoharie County Democratic Committee Reorganizes, Re-elects Heary
On Thursday, July 7, the Schoharie County Democratic Committee (SCDC) held their bi-monthly regular meeting as well as their reorganizational meeting. After welcoming new members, the Committee enthusiastically re-elected Theresa Heary of Wright to serve a second term as Party Chair, along with first time Vice Chairs Jim Buzon of Middleburgh and Scott Bennett of Richmondville.
The meeting comes on the heels of two successful events: the annual FDR banquet held at Chieftans in Cobleskill at the end of June, and the SCDC’s first online auction. The Schoharie County community can look forward to more fun events, like the upcoming annual barbeque, in the coming months.
In their first endorsement as part of District 21, the Committee officially backed Congressional candidate Matt Castelli. Castelli, a former CIA Officer who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, held the position of Director for Counterterrorism in both the Obama and Trump administrations. He decided to run for Congress after witnessing the domestic terrorist attack on the US Capitol on 1/6/2021.
The SCDC represents the 16 towns and 6 villages of Schoharie County through a public nominating process. County Democrats are encouraged to consider participating in democracy, specifically by adding representation from the communities of Broome, Esperance, Seward, and Sharon. Contact the SCDC for more information.
