 SCDC Endorses Candidates for November

MIDDLEBURGH—The Schoharie County Democratic Committee announced that its members have endorsed candidates for the Nov. 8 election.

Meeting March 2 in Middleburgh and by teleconference, the party endorsed Kathy Hochul for Governor; Brian Benjamin for  Lt. Governor; Letitia James for State Attorney General; and Tom DiNapoli for State Comptroller.

“This is a slate of experienced public officials with accomplishments that provide benefit to the people of New York and Schoharie County,” said SCDC Chair Theresa Heary. “We’re going to work hard on their behalf.”

SCDC members also endorsed Nicholas Chase, of Meredith in Delaware County as their candidate for the 102nd Assembly District. Chase is a middle school teacher in the Franklin Central School District.

The party will consider endorsements for the 51st state Senate District as candidates announce their plans to run.

The committee met with potential candidates for the 21st Congressional District, now in Republican hands. Redistricting this year moved Schoharie County from the 19th to the 21st district. Potential nominees, Matt Putorti of Whitehall and Matt Castelli of Saratoga County, shared their ideas at the Democrats’ March 2 meeting.

The party’s candidate will be decided by primary voting on June 28, with early voting June 18-26. 

“We’re happy to see such an enthusiastic, dedicated slate of Democrats seeking these important offices,” Chair Heary said. “We’re eager to have the residents of Schoharie County get to know them, and more importantly, know their positions and ideas that serve us all.”
