We want a country where people have freedom to:
- provide for our families.
- retire with dignity and comfort.
- choose when and if to have a family.
These freedoms are being attacked by the extremists in the Republican Party.
Vote during the Voting Season, which starts on August 13.
The LAST DAY to vote is August 23, but why wait?
Pat Ryan is running to replace Antonio Delgado in NY#19, which will be our district until Jan. 1.
Matt Castelli is running in the primary to take on Extremist Elise. Note that Matt’s name is Castelli, like Castle. He wants to protect our freedoms.
We can bring about a country with more. We can have more of the tools that we need to support our small businesses, family farmers, and to plan our lives, but we have to vote for them.
In Solidarity,
Theresa

VOTER INFO AT THE SUNSHINE FAIR Aug 9-14
Right from opening day of the annual County Fair in Cobleskill on August 9, voter information for the August 23 Primary and Special Election will be available at the Schoharie County Democratic Committee (SCDC) booth. Located in the Progress Land section, folks at the booth can help you understand how it is that Schoharie voters this August will be asked to vote in two different Congressional Districts: a Special Election for District 19 to fill the vacant seat until the end of this year and a Primary for candidates vying for a run in the November election for District 21.
Info sheets will be available with all of the dates for in-person early voting at two locations — one in Cobleskill, the other in Schoharie. Application forms for absentee ballots will be available if you won’t be able to vote in person at the November election. Voter Registration forms will also be available that can be used for new voters or to change your old voting address. Conversation with Pat Ryan by Susan Iona
S. Meredith, contributing
Just last week at the Green Wolf Public House in Middleburgh, I ran into Pat Ryan, currently the Ulster County Executive who is the Democratic candidate for the vacant seat in Congress for District 19. Hosted by the Schoharie County Democratic Committee, this informal setting was inviting and accessible. Antonio Delgado took on the role of Lieutenant Governor, for which he is now running in the November election, vacating his congressional seat. He has endorsed Pat Ryan to take on his former seat. Parts of District 19 have been redistricted into District 21 as of January 2023 including all of Schoharie County, and it is important that this August 23 election keeps a Democrat in that seat until the end of December. It’s a little crazy to hire a congressperson for a little over four months, but Ryan is willing to take it on.

Politics is sometimes confusing but talking with Pat Ryan is anything but that. Pat, a West Point graduate and a combat veteran, is accustomed to being a clear communicator. He has “seen government work” in service to the community in his role as County Executive and he describes his belief in finding solutions, not excuses, which can mean working “across the aisle.” With the intense pressures of the Covid epidemic in Ulster County, he made budget sacrifices in order to lighten the load on strapped citizens.
Ryan is concerned about inaction in government and the direction his opponent would take the country. He is disturbed that the current Supreme Court is “rolling back” established rights instead of protecting them and is more than dismayed by the gun violence that is killing Americans with the same weapons that he was trained to use in war. “Passing laws in service to Constituents” is his view of the congressional job. He believes in community and allegiance beyond the self, a form of selflessness he put in action since being in public office.
When asked what message he would like to send, he replied, “We will not stand for rollbacks of our rights.” As one who has fought for this country, he seems to be ready to take on the struggles in our federal government as well.
