jessica hartjen
Jessica Hartjen lives in and represents the Village of Cobleskill (Cobleskill 2). In order to earn money, she works at the State Education Department, where her career has been mostly focused on procurement and grant-making. Her non-paid activities include wrangling children and dogs, volunteering with the Joshua Project (including senior meal delivery, the summer backpack program, and summer lunch program), activity in her church (including serving as a teacher for the women's auxiliary and youth Sunday school), and she is starting a degree in international affairs in August. Jessica is involved in the SCDC because she wants to support a healthy, multi-party democracy where different voices can be heard, ideas considered, and consensus built around how to best support communities and individuals. She likes to believe that most people want the same things (safe and healthy communities, opportunities for themselves and their families to thrive) and the critical need right now is to provide a compelling case that can counter the divisive and dangerous rhetoric building in the country. Her goal as secretary is to pronounce everyone's name correctly and take accurate notes.
