Friends-
Were you at the banquet? It was a great party, with an address by our Comptroller, Tom DiNapoli. We also got to meet all of our candidates:
-
Paula Collins, who is running for the House,
-
Michele Frazier, our dynamo, who is running for NYS Senate, and
-
Janet Tweed and Mary Finnerman who will be in a primary for NYS Assembly.
The Comptroller reminded us that the work of the governing coalition of President Biden, Vice President Harris, the Cabinet, federal agencies and the Democratic Congress pulled us out of an economic crisis. Their American Rescue Plan worked, delivering low unemployment, wage gains for the working class, and important wins for organized labor. The Infrastructure, Investment and Jobs Act has funded projects to replace the toxic lead pipes that one-half of NY children are drinking from today. The Administration is repairing roads and bridges, expanding rural broadband, and developing clean energy. In New York State, our Democratic leaders have passed landmark climate legislation that is already creating thousands of good-paying, green union jobs, making it easier to build and heat with clean technologies.
This is all on the line, and that is why we have to fight. There will be opportunities for you to help later this fall. Please reserve the weekends of October 18, 25 and November 1 to go to bat for democracy.
In the meantime, we are organizing opportunities to get to know you! We have a small cadre of people preparing an epic, family-friendly picnic this summer. There will be music, food and (we hope) you! Can you help to plan it? You would get to know some of our committee members and learn what we are up to.
Don’t forget the primary on Tuesday, June 25.
There is a primary election coming up on Tuesday, June 25. Early voting is June 15-June 23. Don’t lose your status as a super-voter! If you want to know your voting record, reach out to me. I can look it up for you. In this election, you will get to decide between Mary Finnerman and Janet Tweed for NYS Assembly. You will also get to vote for the Schoharie Delegate for the NYS committee. All candidates are current members of the SCDC. To insure representation, positions cannot be filled by people of the same gender. Running for the female position are Miriam (Mimi) McGiver and Virginia (Ginny) Kintz. Running for the male position are Richard (Rich) Shultes and Brian Gallagher.
In Solidarity,
Theresa

WE HAD SO MUCH FUN -- MAKE SURE YOU COME NEXT YEAR!
THANKS TO THOMAS DiNAPOLI, NY STATE COMPTROLLER, who was our honored guest speaker and many of our local candidates were there.
Keep an eye out for news of our community gathering this August or September!
This will be the time to gather as friends, neighbors and patriots to raise energy for our cause. The fate of our nation hangs in the balance, but we can still have a good time fighting for democracy as we know it.
MAKE SURE YOU VOTE IN THE JUNE 25 PRIMARY! IF DEMOCRATS DON'T VOTE IN OUR LOCAL PRIMARIES, REPUBLICANS WILL ALWAYS WIN.

Your INVOLVEMENT can make a DIFFERENCE.
Democratic candidates need people to help persuade others to show up and vote! This can be as easy as writing postcards to neighbors, or knocking on doors in a nearby town, or organizing a backyard event with a candidate, or putting up yard signs to show that there are voting, informed Democrats in Schoharie County.
You can also donate directly to the candidates and support their campaigns. What does this mean? They have to a lot of miles to cover these big rural districts, that's a lot of gas at the same price you are paying. Candidates have to pay staff, even just a campaign manager, to keep financial records, to put out printed materials about what they stand for and what they would like to do for us. Candidates have to pay their own way at events where they get to speak to the public, and they have to have child care, meals and all the other kinds of help that enables them to go out and talk to voters.
