There is so much happening, it is hard to figure out where to begin.
Women’s access to healthcare
Women need to have control of their own bodies. It is clear that the Supreme Court is going to overturn Roe, and it will become necessary to create nationwide laws that protect women’s bodily autonomy.
How do we do that? We make sure that every seat in Congress goes to representatives who are ready to protect a woman’s right to choose.

Right now, the balance is so close that it is impossible to move legislation forward. If we are not able to enact laws that protect a woman’s right to choose, we will lose that right.
Redistricting: Whose district are we in?
Every 10 years, after the census, the district lines are redrawn. We had been in District 19. The newly drawn lines were rejected by the courts as giving Democrats an unfair advantage. So, right now there is a dude in a room with spreadsheets and mapping software, hammering out maps that are more acceptable to the courts.
Then Governor Hochul threw us a monkey wrench by appointing our lovely representative, Antonio Delgado, as Lieutenant Governor. It is likely that we will have to vote in a special election to replace him, even though we might only be in District 19 until the end of this year.
Through a rather confusing process and a flurry of Zoom meetings, Democrats put forward Pat Ryan (pictured below) to take on Marc Molinaro. He is likely going to be the candidate in both the special election and in the general election. If he is to win, he has to start gathering support right now.

Ryan was the runner up, after Delgado, in the 2018 primary. He is currently the Ulster County Executive. He has a PAC and a substantial political apparatus ready to go. If we end up in NY 19, I would be proud to campaign for him as our congressional representative. As of now, we do not know if we will remain in NY 19 (which is currently represented by Antonio Delgado), if we will move to District 21 (which is currently represented by Republican Elise Stefanik), or if we will be moved into an entirely different district. The maps are due by May 16, which just happens to be the date of our next meet and greet and mixer. (It is in Sharon Springs. Would you like to go? Click here.).

District 19, which was likely to remain in Democratic Control, is definitely in limbo.
What are we to do?
Be ready!
On May 16 we will know which district we are going to be in. That very day, we will meet and talk in Sharon Springs. We might have to collect signatures for whichever candidate we want to get on the ballot. Then, we have to build the infrastructure across the new district in record time. Please come. Click here so that we can be ready for you.
What does the political infrastructure look like?
-People who are ready to go out and collect signatures.
-People who are ready to drive around with yard signs.
-People who know how to knock on doors and talk to their neighbors about voting.
-People who are ready to craft and share messages on social media.
-People who are ready to plan parties and events to support our candidates.

What is the key to political infrastructure?
People!
People like you, who are ready to protect our bodily autonomy. People who know that what happened at our Capitol on January 6 was both a crime and an abomination.
