richard g. shultes
Rich has been a member of the SCDC since the early 90s and represents the Village of Middleburgh. He and his wife Patti own and operate Middleburgh Lanes and Laundromat and have been vital members of the Middleburgh Community. Rich has served the people in the area in many different ways. He was a member of his Parish Council, taught Religious Ed., and was the Advisor for the CYO. Rich coached Little League and was president for a number of years. He and his wife Patti helped start the Tim Murphy 10K and were involved for 10 years. As his children grew, Rich turned his energy towards politics by winning a seat on the Town Council and then ran and won the Supervisor position. He was a member of the Schoharie County IDA, Soil and Water Conservation committee, and the Tri County IDA Investigative Committee. Rich also coached summer soccer and modified MCS baseball, and still coaches Varsity Bowling, where he is the Western Athletic Chairman. Rich also was Democratic Deputy Commissioner of elections for 11 years before retiring in December of 2020.
Rich presently runs the Lanes and has summer licenses at Fonda Race Track and Utica Rome Speedway to sell beverages. He also is a member of SUNY Cobleskill’s College Council that is appointed by the Governor, and is our Treasurer of the SCDC. He is also president of the Schoharie County Bowling Association and a Hall of Fame member.
Service to the public and the democrats has been a way of life for Rich, and he looks forward to many more years of doing what he has been doing for years.
